To mark International Womens Day, Kurdish Screen presents HÊVÎ, a documentary brings to light the experiences of four different Kurdish women who are all answering the same question “What would you do to oppose all kinds of oppressions?”
Presenting different responses from each women and her peers the documentary travels across different cities (Berlin, Paris, Rotterdam, Istanbul, Ankara, Dersim, Amed/Diyarbakır and even the Qandil mountains) as it shares personal stories. We hear from Eren Keskin, human rights defender and lawyer; Politicians Gülten Kanak and Aysel Tuluk and heroic former guerilla fighter Sakine Cansz. Each of which share experiences of how women are fighting to overturn injustice, imbalance and power.
The screening will be followed by an open and informal conversation led my members of Exeter’s Kurdish community.
