Kiki Dee & Carmelo Luggeri

THE LONG RIDE HOME

Yorkshire born Kiki Dee‘s prowess was spotted at an early age when she won a local talent show at only ten years old. By the age of 16, her blue-eyed soulful voice had won her a deal with Fontana Records and since then she has released over 40 singles, 15 albums and 4 EPs having the distinction of being the first ever female singer from the UK to be signed by Tamla Motown.

In 1973 her stunning Amoureuse became her first Top 20 singles entry followed by I’ve Got the Music in Me (Top 20 UK & USA) and in 1975 the unforgettable, Don’t Go Breaking My Heart with Elton John which topped the charts both sides of the Atlantic. Hits swiftly followed, including Star and further success with Elton, True Love reaching number 2 in the 90s.

Also an accomplished actor, she has starred in Blood Brothers in the West End and Broadway. TV appearances in The Two RonniesMorecambe & Wise and The Benny Hill show amongst countless others.

Never one to rest on her laurels,  she joined forces with virtuoso guitarist Carmelo Luggeri who has worked with such luminaries as Andy Williams, Bill Wyman, Chris Rea, Paul Rodgers, Ralph McTell and Juian Lennon.

This partnership has lasted for over 25 years bringing their spellbinding acoustic live shows to audiences all over Europe and throughout the UK. Performing in this stripped-back fashion allows each of their exceptional talents to shine through and create a wonderful and warm sense of intimacy for the audience.

Kiki Dee has cemented her status as one of the UK’s finest and most revered vocalists always moving forward with the music that she creates with Carmelo. Kiki says that Carmelo is her favourite guitarist, and he co-writes and produces all their songs.

Their latest CD release, the critically acclaimed album, The Long Road Home is full of haunting, emotional and stunning songs and the live show will feature a selection of tracks as well as all the previously mentioned hits from her incredible career, plus a few curved ball unique versions of material by Kate Bush, Janis Ian, Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen. An unmissable unique show!
