In a dystopian future, an outbreak of canine flu leads the mayor of a Japanese city to banish all dogs to a vast garbage-dump called Trash Island. When a 12-year-old boy defies the authorities and sets out on a daring rescue mission to save his beloved pooch, he befriends with a pack of mongrels and embarks on an epic journey to track down his dog.
