Crossing The Line

An innovative season of film events, documentaries, shorts and artists’ films to test ethical and physical boundaries and reveal astonishing stories of achievement.

A Celebration of Cycling and Cinema:
Inspired To Ride

VENUE: EXETER CANAL SIDE

USA, 88mins, dir. Mike Dion.

Get on your bike and join us for an evening celebrating cycling and cinema. Join a
canal-side neon night ride to the Double Locks Pub, where we’ll wrap things up with a cosy, fairy-lit screening of Inspired To Ride.

Exposing the limits of physical exertion, this inspiring documentary follows a handful of hardy cyclists as they set out on 2014’s inaugural Trans Am Bike Race across the breadth of America.

Their mission? To cover 4,233 miles in one enormous stage race, traversing ten states, agonizing climbs, driving winds and sawtooth switchbacks, in a transcontinental adventure of epic proportions.

What’s The Plan?

6pm

Bring your bike and meet at Exeter Phoenix to weave glowsticks through your wheels before joining a neon night ride down the canal cycle path to our cosy destination at the Double Locks Pub.

Please ensure you have working bike lights, and don’t forget to bring your helmet. Don’t have a bike? Saddles and Paddles are offering a £15 overnight bike hire if required. Get in touch to find out more >>

7pm

Special film introduction from Juliet Elliot. A passionate pro cyclist, cycling blogger and journalist, Juliet will kick off the screening with tales from her latest cycling tour of Japan.

7.30pm

Cosy up with a drink under a fairy-lit glow to watch a special feature screening of the much anticipated cycle film Inspired To Ride.
