Walter Salles’, director of The Motorcycle Diaries returns to the big screen with incredible true story. I’m Still Here follows the Paiva family, who’s idyllic family life in 1971 Brazil is shattered when the father is abducted by the military dictatorship’s regime. In the aftermath we see matriarch Eunice’s journey of survival, struggle, reinvention and fight for justice over decades.

I’m Still Here is a powerful adaptation of Marcelo Rubens Paiva’s 2015 memoir, visually beautiful, bringing the texture of the era with 35mm shots and super 8 footage featuring a standout performance from renowned Brazilian actor Fernanda Torres, who scooped the Best actress award at this year’s Golden Globes. With many Oscar and BAFTA nominations more awards are sure to follow.
