Ide Primary School: We Are Nature

Nature is all around us, and we are part of it too. At our school, our dedicated Wildlife today may disappear tomorrow.

The butterfly artworks reflect this idea of loss and fragility. As the butterflies’ wings gradually pixelate and disappear from the page, they symbolise nature fading away and the impact of human actions on the environment. They serve as a reminder that the natural world is not guaranteed and must be protected for future generations.

The meadow-inspired artwork explores the global importance of wildlife. The animals and insects are created from maps, representing the interconnectedness of nature across the world. They are intentionally larger and slightly out of proportion to the flowers around them, drawing our attention to their significance. By placing wildlife at the centre of the composition, the children encourage us to recognise that protecting these creatures should be our focus, as they play a vital role in maintaining healthy ecosystems.
