+ LIVE MUSICAL DRAG PERFORMANCEs from The Ambigious-A and BopaRhys

Dir. John Cameron Mitchell
95 mins, 2001, USA

English and German

Hedwig is a transsexual rocker who has had her fair share of bad luck and has now fallen to stalking rock star Tommy Gnosis (Michael Pitt). Hedwig and Tommy first met in the early 1990s, when he was a 17-year-old nobody, and they quickly embarked upon a passionate love affair; but Tommy’s difficulties with Hedwig’s body soon got the better of him, he ran away with a batch of her songs and made it big in the world of rock. Now Hedwig has returned to redress the balance, and when Tommy stops to pick her up in his limousine, it seems she might finally have her chance….

Live Performances

The Ambiguous-A

The Ambiguous-A is the world’s number one half-Greek-half-Jew-ex-Jehovah’s-witness-accountant Drag act! Absurd, amoral, and always ambiguous, their musical comedy stylings will be sure to prod your special area.

BopaRhys

BopaRhys is everyone’s favourite auntie. Hailing from the South Welsh Valleys BopaRhys learnt how to tell a joke, by hanging out with the Meals on Wheels delivery women in back rooms of Treherbert Rugby Club. Equal parts heart and venom topped off with some great pins, and the budget for costume that a zero-hour contract allows.
