Music in Devon Initiative (MIDI) are proud to be bringing the city out of lockdown with an exciting live event in Exeter!

Now in its fifth year, the MIDI team behind Exeter Street Arts Festival are planning to hold all activities outside in line with new government recommendations, activating space in the city in a safe and interesting way by bringing music, art and street culture back for free to everyone.

This year event organisers MIDI are focused on bringing local artists together with local businesses for the united vision of igniting recovery post COVID. MIDI exists to bring opportunities to artists, but also to support our local business community to ensure the festival is of benefit to all.

ESAF will take place on Sat 29 Aug, running from 10am – 6pm. City partners currently involved as hosting spaces for performances include Exeter Phoenix Terrace and Secret Garden, Exeter Library hosting a MIDI piano and use of their front car park, Cathedral Green, busking spots along the main high street, Guildhall shopping centre amphitheatre, and the outdoor green of St Sidwell’s Community Centre with more spaces being announced daily.

Exeter Phoenix will have a full day of jam packed music and live acts on their terrace and in their secret garden including local legend hip hop beat boxing ukulele artist Samantics UK, rock funk outfit Shake The Geek, acoustic originals from Ollie Dixon, Electro Solo Pop from alternative pop one man band and multi-instrumentalist SVIMM, melodic punk from Okay, Bye and some classic blues from Tim Holehouse – plus much, much more!

MIDI have a small but dedicated team who are working hard to kick start the local economy, support the recovery of our artists and provide a foundation for growth. With excellent support from the BBC, local press and the potential for national coverage of the event, MIDI looks forward to injecting Exeter Phoenix’s outdoor space with some cultural colour and fun! Join us for a day to celebrate coming together, at last.
