Big Screen In The Park

Edward Scissorhands (12)

Dir. Tim Burton | 1990 | 100 mins | USA

Big Screen In The Park is back for seven nights of outdoor cinema magic in Northernhay Gardens.

  • Tickets: £6 in advance, £7 on the gate
  • + £4 for a deckchair
  • + £17 picnic for 2 with soft drink
  • + £21 picnic for 2 with a bottle of wine

An inventor dies, leaving his greatest creation – an artificially-built human – alone and unfinished in an eerie castle with nothing but scissor-blades for hands. When the Avon lady comes calling Edward is exposed to the real world. In this pastel-coloured suburbia, he finds his gentle and naive nature coupled with his unusual appearance makes it almost impossible for him to fit in.

This haunting and darkly sweet fairytale marks the first of many collaborations between Johnny Depp and Tim Burton and is as magical today as it was first time around.

‘Edward Scissorhands isn’t perfect. It’s something better: pure magic.’
ROLLING STONE

‘A true fairytale … laced with humour and humanity’
THE TELEGRAPH
