Easter Theatre Week with Paddleboat

EASTER TERM THEATRE WEEK FOR IMAGINATIVE 12-15 YEAR OLDS

Imaginative young people aged 12 – 15 are invited to create a stage play with the award winning PaddleBoat Theatre Company during the Easter Holidays.

The inventive Exeter-based company, which is known for its distinctive and playful approach to theatre, will guide a group through a week of storytelling, puppetry, music, design, acting and directing.

This theatre week offers young people a chance to have fun creating with a team of professional artists to put together a piece of original drama and perform on Exeter Phoenix’s stage. The theme of the week will be “FRAMED!”

We’ll be creating a thrilling Whodunnit style detective mystery, taking inspiration from Sherlock Holmes, Agatha Christie and old American film noir. We’ll be creating a story about murders, mysteries and missing persons!  Come and help us catch the clues, spot the suspects and create a brand new piece of theatre with your finger prints all over it!

At the end of the week, friends and family will be welcomed into Exeter Phoenix’s auditorium to watch the young people perform their show on stage.

Katy Dash, Artistic Director of PaddleBoat, said: ‘Whether you have loads of experience performing or you want to try drama for the first time, this week will be such a lot of fun.’

The course is for children aged 12-15 years old on course start date – no previous theatre experience required. PaddleBoat Theatre Company are all BSL trained and are welcoming young people who are D/deaf or hard of hearing to join us for this theatre week (Limited bursary placements available).

Rehearsals will take place in the Exeter Phoenix studio’s, with the end of week performance taking place on the stage in the auditorium. PaddleBoat will be at the Exeter Phoenix entrance to meet and greet children and parents/guardians. Young people must be signed in when they are dropped off and signed out when they are picked up.
