DR MEAKER – SOUL STEPPIN’ 2019 SPRING TOUR

Bringing The Sound of Bristol To Exeter

We’ll be bringing some the best of Bristol’s prolific music scene to Exeter over the next 12 months. We have lined up live bands that are making a name for themselves as the next wave to emerge from the city alongside the artists that kicked the whole Bristol Sound off with Trip Hop and are still making waves today.

    DR MEAKER

It’s a pleasure to welcome Dr Meaker and his band as a date on their Soul Steppin’ Tour. They started their journey as a Bristol based sound system comprising of electronic and acoustic musicians, since evolving into a full band with vocalists and a horn section. Their first release was championed by Rob da Bank’s BBC Radio 1 show. Following this Dr Meaker entered the Glastonbury Festival Unsigned Bands Competition winning the Dance Music category. Since these early days Dr Meaker have gone from strength to strength, having just released their latest album ‘Grenade and appearing at festivals across the UK and Europe including a great set at Beautiful Days this year.

    SLEDGEHEADBRISTOL

SLEDGEHEADBRISTOL is Ray Mighty, one half of Smith and Mighty from Bristol. They produced Massive Attack’s first single, “Any Love” released in 1988 and in 1989, they produced “Wishing on a Star” for Fresh Four, which charted in the UK at number 10. Ray’s SLEDGEHEADBRISTOL project runs alongside his studio work and is mixed for a mesmerising set of video mash ups of dance classics.

    DJ Bunjy

DJ Bunjy has years of DJ’ing experience behind him, and is one of Bristol most sought after DJ’s, known for his renowned eclectic sets of hip hop, drum & bass, reggae, and R’n’B. Bunjy is DJ’ing all over Europe and America as well as putting on his own events in Bristol and London. In the early 2000s Bunjy formed his Laid Blak project, a Bristol urban collective of musicians, who have successfully played alongside the likes of Damien and Julian Marley as well as at festivals around the UK and abroad.
