Blind Spot: Film screening and Q&A

The Alright Mate? Festival brings people together in and around Exeter through creative and social events opening up conversations about men’s mental health and wellbeing. Running from 7–28 November as part of Movember, the programme includes comedy, film, journalling, pizza-making, music and more.

There’s plenty of conversation about men’s mental health online during Movember. This festival takes that conversation offline, making space to meet people, try something different, have a laugh and connect in person.

This new short film version brings ‘Blind Spot’ to the screen, retaining the humour and honesty of the original work while opening it up to a wider audience. After the screening, stay for a Q&A and conversation about the making of the project

Created from a series of interviews with men living in Devon, ‘Blind Spot’ uses humour to explore some roadblocks men face when trying to talk openly about how they feel. The original project became an intimate live performance staged inside a car, placing audiences in unusually close proximity to conversations about masculinity, vulnerability and mental health.

This new short film version brings ‘Blind Spot’ to the screen, retaining the humour and honesty of the original work while opening it up to a wider audience. After the screening, stay for a Q&A and conversation about the making of the project and the issues it explores.
