#R1ACADEMY

BBC Radio 1 takes over Exeter Phoenix with a week of creative industry workshops, events and Q&As ahead of Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Powderham Castle!

Now in its fifth year, BBC Radio 1’s Academy will include a series of special events, local engagement and face-to-face activity themed around creativity which takes place in Exeter Phoenix.

The week features Live Lounges with AlunaGeorge, Tom Odell and Laura Mvula, guitar masterclasses with Jake Bugg, entrepreneur workshops with Dragons Den, live broadcasting from your favourite Radio 1 DJs, Q&As with top TV movers and shakers… the list goes on. You’ll get a chance to try your hand at everything from creating virtual reality content to scratch DJing and sound engineering to beatboxing.

Wed 18 May sees the party continue until late, with a special BBC Introducing gig from 8pm.
