An Afternoon With Momentum
Sat 19 May 2018
Between each presentation there will be plenty of time for Q & A, discussion, opportunity to meet and chat. Tea, coffee, refreshments, support and information will be available throughout the afternoon.
Patrick Sandford will be performing his play GROOMED which was shortlisted for best performance outside of West End.
John from moMENtum will give a personal reflection on the impact of childhood sexual abuse, trauma, healing, cake and why survivors need to meet survivors.
Dr Matthew McVarish will be screening his excellent TED talk “you actually can” and will be there for a Q&A afterwards.
Walking 10,000 miles, to every EU capital, Matthew became the first male survivor of childhood sexual abuse to speak out publicly in many countries, on TV, Radio and newspapers in thirty languages, during his award-winning project the Road to Change. Encouraging various Governments and Parliaments to begin the discussion of abolishing their Statute of Limitations on victims reporting sexual crimes, Matthew was invited to speak at the United Nations and a personal audience with Pope Francis. Upon completing his walk, he returned to Strasbourg where he addressed the Council of Europe to encourage this crucial reform across all 47 European nations.
This event is open to all genders and we welcome professionals, non-offending family members and friends over the age of 16.
moMENtum is a support group for male survivors of childhood sexual abuse based in Exeter and Barnstaple.
