Estibaliz Urresola Solaguren’s delicate debut film is a tender, heartfelt drama that follows an eight-year-old trans girl (played by Sofía Otero, winner of the Silver Bear for Best Leading Performance at 2022’s Berlin Film Festival) during an indelible summer holiday of self-discovery.

20,000 Species of Bees offers a child’s eye view of growing up, delving into its lead’s struggles with humanity and grace.

The screening on Wed 8 Nov, 5.45pm will be introduced by University of Exeter, Department of Film specialists in Spanish Cinema, Queer Studies, and the Girl on Screen.
