On 6 April 1917 — three years into World War I – two young British privates, Schofield (George MacKay) and Blake (Dean-Charles Chapman), are given an impossible mission and tasked with delivering a life-saving message to a distant battalion in the hope it will stop 1,600 men from walking straight into a deadly trap. To get there, though, they must navigate life-threatening enemy terrains.

All filmed in one extraordinary single take (by cinematographer Roger Deakins) 1917 gets to the heart of what the soldiers are really seeing, experiencing and enduing. Already hailed as an Oscar contender it’s and claimed to be Mendes ‘masterpiece’ 1917 is the war movie to end all war movies.
