The University of Exeter Present: Synthetic Plants Film Screening
What are synthetic plants? Come and see a new documentary film ‘What do you think about synthetic plants?’ and join the discussion to shape the future of this emerging technology.
Join us for a film screening and discussion of synthetic plants – plants that are designed to grow and respond to their environment in new ways through scientific innovation. We want to understand what you think: How should we think about synthetic plants? What problems should they solve? What risks should we be thinking about? Should they even be developed? This free event is part of a study being conducted by researchers from the University of Exeter to understand what people think about synthetic plants and how their views can shape the way this technology is developed.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The event will start with a 20-minute documentary film exploring synthetic plants with different people who know plants, including people in Exeter.
Next, we will host an audience discussion for 60 minutes to understand what you think about the film and synthetic plants.
Lastly, there will be refreshments for an hour afterwards in The Secret Garden where you can continue the conversation and meet the film-makers and some of the people featured in the film.
The discussion on synthetic plants will be facilitated by Sarah Hartley – Professor of Technology Governance and Director of the Centre for Responsible Innovation at the University of Exeter Aleksandra Stelmach – Research Fellow, University of Exeter.
