A workshop using movement and discussion to explore the themes of a new contemporary dance and physical theatre work in development by Millie Parker.
We’ll be exploring how your relationship with the idea of being a woman can evolve as you grow up and shifting through nostalgic and present-day definitions of what it means to be a woman.
The first half of the session will lead you through some movement tasks to deepen your relationship with your body through thoughtful movement and enable trust and support with the other woman in the room, before exploring some of the creative methods used during the performance works R&D.
No experience in movement or dance is required to join in, the room will be filled with a mixture of abilities with adaptations being given at every stage.
The second half of the session will be discussion based, facilitated to share our experiences and discover similarities and differences in a safe and compassionate space. A selection of questions will be proposed and we will gather responses through tasks in varying sized groups, using writing, drawing and chatting.
