Aqueous Territories – Verse, Jazz, and Song

Rivers run, flow, walk; hurricanes bluster, scream, and cry; wetlands thrive in unpredictability and flux. Works of and inspired by these and other aqueous landscapes of Louisiana and in the Southwest of England compose this event. Readings from regional and international authors, including Louisa Adjoa Parker, Linda Chavers, and John Cooper, will be followed by a musical performance featuring the Dan Mar-Molinero Jazz Orchestra. The 18-piece ensemble will be premiering new material on aqueousness written by Ivor Novello-nominated, UK-based composer, Dan Mar-Molinero. The band comprises both familiar faces on the UK jazz scene and exciting up-and-coming talent; collectively, they have worked with leading jazz stars such as Cory Wong, Ivo Neame, Yazz Ahmed, The BBC Big Band, and Courtney Pine. Expect expansive chordal textures, powerful melodies, and deep grooves alongside ‘found sounds’ from the waters of Louisiana
