In this workshop Ben will run a holistic pre-production session with you. He’ll ask you questions & run exercises to help develop your creative voice & find you direction as an artist. You’ll look at how to pick good reference tracks, find inspiration and build on your identity to stand out in the sea of like-minded musicians. There’ll be tips on how to improve your song arrangements and sonics so that your songs are presented in exciting, dynamic ways.
This practice will lay strong foundations to get the most out of future studio sessions and you’ll leave with a new perspective on songwriting and music.
Ben Green
Benny G has been producing music for over ten years, running Exeter’s Studio 54 for the past five. In that time he’s worked & learned with some of the best – John Cornfield (Muse, Oasis), Charlie Francis (REM, Toyah Willcox), Chris Sheldon (Biffy Clyro, Feeder) & Phil Johnstone (Robert Plant, The Levellers). Ben’s productions have been played on Radio 1, 2, 4 & 6, featured on CBBC, Comedy Central & stadiums around the UK.
If he’s not in the studio you’ll find him on the stage, playing bass with Pattern Pusher or helping another band out with his multi-instrumental skills.
This programme of FREE Professional Development Workshops for musicians is designed to support our creative community to develop relevant skills, expand knowledge and grow professional networks. Focussing on the business of being a creative practitioner, the programme aims to equip artists with the skills that they need to grow their careers.
Each session will be followed by a chance to informally hang out, meet and chat with fellow attendees in our cafe bar.
We nurture a thriving arts scene through our Creative Hub, supporting artists, musicians, theatre companies, filmmakers and creatives at every stage of their career and practice. As well as presenting work, we also thrive on developing new talent by giving artists the tools to experiment, take risks and realise their best ideas. Through the Creative Hub, we have helped launch the careers of award-winning filmmakers, developed quality work that has gone on to tour nationally, and provided a support network for those looking to embark on creative endeavours for the first time.
These sessions are provided in partnership with the Cameron Mills Group and Creative Music Hub
