What the Bees Made Me Do

What the Bees Made Made Me Do: Unravel one researcher’s amazing journey from Mexico to England, guided by the science of bees

This event celebrates scientist Ame Hernandez’s journey from Mexico to England, whilst exploring the science of bees from honeybee to predator bees. Learn about how climate change impacts them, how Indigenous peoples thought of bees, and generally learn more about the incredible pollinators that are facing one of the greatest ecological tipping points.

You can buy the book which contains Ame’s published chapters here, and have it signed on the night.

More about Ame Hernandez from her own words:

Bees are my passion; I think they are the coolest creature on earth! I was lucky enough to be born in Mexico, a biodiverse country, in which I studied Biology. I have worked with bears, wolfs, reptiles and birds, but really all I wanted to do was to do research on bees. That´s why I came to England, to do a MSc on them. But researching them makes no sense if we don´t share what we learn with everyone, that´s why science communication has always been part of my life, from TV, radio, podcasts and now a book! Come along to hear more about the fascinating carrion bees, or the stunning orchid bees and to get to know more about the crazy adventures I´ve been involved in whilst studying them.
