ART OF ACTION
EXETER CAMPUS CINEMA presents KILL BILL: Volume 1
SAT 26 OCTOBER | 5PM
With a special introduction from The 5.6.7.8’s who appeared in Kill Bill.
Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill is the finest example of a genre (S)mash-up, drawing on Grindhouse, Asian Kung-Fu, Anime, B-movies and a whole lot of ACTION all tied together to deliver the ultimate story of revenge.
A pregnant assassin, code-named The Bride (Uma Therman), goes into a coma for four years after her ex-boss Bill brutally attacks her and murders her loved ones. When The Bride wakes up, she embarks on an epic global quest to seek revenge on Bill and his treacherous band of assassins.
Bursting with so much creativity, style and bad-ass women Kill Bill is the perfect addition to Exeter Phoenix’s Art of Action: Smash the Glass season.
Campus cinema invite you to attend “Dressed as an Action Character”. There will be prizes for best costume.
The 5.6.7.8’s are an all-female Japanese rockin’ garage trio band from Tokyo – who became known in the West after their appearance in Kill Bill: Vol.1, in which they performed “I Walk Like Jayne Mansfield”, “I’m Blue” (a cover of The Ikettes’ song) and “Woo Hoo”. On the Special Bonus Features of the DVD, you can see The 5.6.7.8’s singing “I Walk Like Jayne Mansfield” and “I’m Blue” during filming of the movie.
Quentin Tarantino discovered their music after hearing it in a clothing store in Tokyo. In a rush to get to the airport, Tarantino purchased that exact CD from the store for double the retail price.
Don’t Miss them PLAYING LIVE after the film!
