Dir. Peter Brook
1963 | 92 mins | UK
When a group of schoolboys find themselves stranded on a deserted island, their attempts to govern themselves descend into savagery. To celebrate the 70th Anniversary of its publication join us for a special screening of Lord of the Flies; a tale of survival which confronts the fragility of civilisation and the duality of human nature. This is a rare opportunity to see renowned theatre and film director Peter Brook’s 1963 adaption, considered to be the most faithful version of the novel, on the big screen. The screening will be preceded by a short talk on the novel’s impact on popular film culture from Dr Phil Wickham, Curator of the Bill Douglas Cinema Museum.
The screening is free, but booking is required.
