1 DAY WORKSHOP
Immerse yourself in the traditional craft of watercolour paint making and take home your unique palette of hand mulled watercolour paints. Along the way you’ll gain hands-on experience and invaluable insights. End the day exploring your paint with a colour-mixing activity. We recommend bringing along 1 or 2 paint brushes. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or a curious beginner, this workshop promises to ignite your creativity and elevate your artistic journey.
Aims & Objectives of this workshop
Aims:
· To introduce participants to the traditional experience of making hand mulled watercolour paint.
· To explore the qualities of different pigments and their effects in watercolour painting.
· To impart understanding of colour mixing theory and its application in watercolour painting.
Objectives:
· To give a demonstration in traditional hand mulled paint making techniques.
· To guide participants through the process of selecting coloured pigments.
· To facilitate a hands-on practical session for participants to create their own watercolour paint using the traditional hand mulling process.
· To provide a practical exercise in creating colour mixing charts to explore the paint made in the workshop.
· To foster a collaborative learning environment where participants can share experiences, insights and leave with a palette of hand mulled watercolour paint made by the group.
Session Dates
Reg and Emma, are a husband and wife team who live on the edge of Dartmoor, Devon. They have been making watercolour paint since 2019, using the traditional process known as ‘Mulling’. “Our paint mulling journey grew from our passion for colour, painting and a deep regard for keeping traditional art processes and craftsmanship alive.”
