GODZILLA (1954): Presented by Spinning Path

Japan is thrown into a panic after several ships explode and are sunk near Odo Island. An expedition to the island led by paleontologist Professor Kyohei Yemani soon discover something more devastating than imagined in the form of a 50 meter tall monster whom the natives call Gojira. Now the monster begins a rampage that threatens to destroy not only Japan, but the rest of the world as well.

Godzilla, sometimes described as the King of the Monsters, is a character you probably know and love, having starred in over 32 films produced by Japanese company Toro, 4 American movies, and various comics, video games, TV shows and novels. Whether you’ve seen the original or have come to love Godzilla from the recent adaptations, this is a rare opportunity to join Spinning Path in seeing the original Japanese film from 1954 on the big screen.

ABOUT SPINNING PATH

Spinning Path started when Producer Simeon Costello and Writer/Director Tommy Gillard crossed paths in deepest Devon. Building on a shared love of weird cinema, they sought to create equally obscure short films. And they haven’t looked back.

Since making BFI London Film Festival 2020 Best Short Film Shuttlecock, Spinning Path are beginning to host a regular pop-up events cinema at Positive Light Projects and will be sharing a variety of films from underground cult genre movies, to films that are so bad they’re good, and films that you’ve heard of but may not have had the chance to see before.
