An eerie thriller about a young veterinary student’s search for her birth mother in Christine Molloy and Joe Lawlor’s powerful Irish drama. Rose (Ann Skelly), adopted from birth, has wanted to know who her biological parents are for as long as she can remember. When Rose finally discovers her birth mother’s identity it quickly becomes clear that her birth mother Ellen (Orla Brady) has no wish to have any contact.
Compelled by a sense of rejection, Rose travels from Dublin to London in an effort to confront her. When Rose turns up unannounced, Ellen is deeply disturbed. Yet Rose’s persistence forces Ellen to reveal a secret she has kept hidden for over 20 years. As Rose sets out to confront her biological father, believing she has little to lose, curiosity leads her to discoveries that shake the fragile identity she has built for herself setting her on a collision course that will prove both violent and unsettling. This is frank, immersive and atmospheric cinema.
