Sat 31 Jul update: This evening’s performance will still be taking place in Rougemont Gardens; audiences are reminded to bring something waterproof just in case.
Join Spork! for a jam-packed show full of poetry, comedy & spoken-word. Ten competitors will battle it out in the first Spork! Slam. Plus special performances from Gecko & Julie Mullen.
Gecko is a singer & storyteller who’s performed his work at Glastonbury, Bestival, BBC Radio 1 & the Edinburgh Fringe. He’s shared stages with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Loyle Carner, Tim Minchin & Billy Bragg. Last year he appeared on the Bafta nominated TV show ‘Life & Rhymes’ on Sky Arts. And in March his song ‘Rapunzel’ went viral on Tik Tok gaining over 200k views in under 48 hours. His second album ‘Climbing Frame’ is out now, and he’ll be touring the UK with a new show later this year.
‘Whimsical rhyming stories’

‘He’s a work of art’

Julie is a well-seasoned (by which we mean salty) poet, performer & host of The Word Cafe in Totnes. Known for her silliness, surrealism, big hats & erotic poetry for vegans and vegetarians.
12 poets will battle it out over 2 rounds to be crowned the first Spork! Slam Champion, with a cash prize of £100 plus a paid set at a Spork! show later this year. Open to anyone aged 18+ from the South West of England.
