Exeter Phoenix are delighted to be taking part in Heritage Open Days for the first time this year! Heritage Open Days is England’s largest festival of history and culture, bringing together over 2,000 organisations, 5,500 events and 46,000 volunteers. Every year in September, places across the country throw open their doors to celebrate their heritage, community and history. Its your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences and its all free.
Did you know Exeter Phoenix started life as part of the University? Do you remember the days when we were still an Art College? Do you have memories of us as Exeter & Devon Arts Centre? Exeter Phoenix is delighted to open its doors to take part in Heritage Open Days 2020.
Throughout the week, join us for free tours which will offer visitors a rare opportunity to explore behind-the-scenes areas of a multi-arts venue, as well as giving an insight into the historic uses of the building and a chance to explore some of the remaining original features. As well as free tours, there will be the chance to look at pictures from our archives and see the original building plans for the site, and read more information about Exeter Phoenixs history.
Our Café Bar will be open throughout the week, offering you somewhere central to soak up Exeters rich cultural heritage.
This event will run in line with local & national government guidelines at the time of the festival.
The free tours will take approximately 45 minutes.
As tours are limited to a maximum of 10 people, advance booking is advised to avoid disappointment.
