Story telling: funny people. Creating comedy characters, narration – accents, quirks and idiosyncrasies
What is the class? A safe space to share thoughts and feelings regarding how we view the world right now with all its pain and angst and interpret them through comedy.
Why should I go? Finding the funny is a valuable skill and life enhancer; it strengthens many interactions and perspectives.
This class focuses on developing characters for a stand up performance or funny speech. Threading other voices into a performance creates interest and humour. We will look at voices, quirky behaviour, physical manifestations and idiosyncrasies that help build original and funny people.
The day will be structured by writing and editing material, followed by an end of day sharing of your ideas. Yeah folks youre going to do a snappy gig. This will run for the last 30 minutes you are welcome to invite guests to attend at 4pm.
Run by Dr Maggie Irving: teacher, speaker, and performer. PhD: The Female Clown Plymouth University. Lectured in comedy at, Winchester University. Runs various workshops from: stand-up, physical comedy, contemporary clowning, and public speaking in the South West.
