An interdisciplinary workshop ideal for all creatives whether new to painting, poetry, or both. Take inspiration from poetry as the starting point for your artwork.
This unique interdisciplinary workshop is ideal for artists, students and writers of all ages and abilities, whether new to painting, or poetry, or both. Attendees will gain an insight into the fruitful relationship between art and poetry; further their technical skills; discover powerful new sources of inspiration; and learn how to use these stimuli to tap into their own creativity.
Working from Emily Dickinson’s poem I Saw No Way The Heavens Were Stitched you will be tutored through how one can use poetry to inspire your creative process and also reflect on how painting can inspire creative writing.
Taking the literary side of the workshop will be Jaye Noble, a local poet and freelance writer. Jaye specialised in the poems of Emily Dickinson while studying at Oxford University, where she graduated with a First in English Literature. After spending a few years working in digital marketing in London and Brighton, she has returned to Exeter to focus on writing.
Jaye will be co-tutoring this session with Sarah John, an established teacher of life drawing, painting, sculpture and ceramics here at Exeter Phoenix.
