Your Guide to Big Screen in the Garden: Paddington 2

Published July 23, 2026

We're so excited to welcome you and your little bears to Big Screen in the Garden at Exeter Phoenix for a special outdoor screening of Paddington 2.

We know our film starts a little later than some family screenings, so we've planned this guide to help everyone stay cosy, comfortable, and ready for a magical evening under the stars.

Come in your comfiest clothes

Why not make it a proper movie night? You're invited to arrive in your favourite pyjamas, dressing gowns, or cuddly onesies. The cosier, the better!

Bring your favourite comforts

Pack a few home comforts to make your spot extra snug:

  • Blankets
  • Pillows or cushions
  • Picnic rugs
  • Settle in and make yourselves at home in our garden.

Marmalade sandwiches on us!

No Paddington adventure would be complete without marmalade sandwiches. We'll have some waiting for you, generously made for us by the award-winning local preserves company Waterhouse Fayre to enjoy before the film begins - our treat!

Warm up with a hot drink

Bar Nova will be open throughout the evening serving hot drinks and other refreshments, so parents and young people can enjoy a warming cup while everyone gets comfortable.

Paddington fun before the film

Our garden gate opens at 7:30pm, so arrive a little early to enjoy some Paddington-inspired games and activities before the screening starts. It's a great way for children to burn off a little energy before settling down for the film.

A few extra tips

  • The screening is outdoors, so please dress for the weather.
  • Layers are your friend—even on warmer evenings, it can cool down after sunset.
  • If rain is forecast, don't worry—we'll keep you updated with any important information.

We can't wait to share this heartwarming family favourite with you. So grab your blankets, pull on your pyjamas, and join us for a wonderfully cosy evening in the garden.

See you there!
