The Last of Sheila (12)

Dir. Herbert Ross
1973 | 120 mins | US
Raquel Welch, Richard Benjamin, James Mason

The Last of Sheila, written by Anthony Perkins (Psycho) and Stephen Sondheim is a delightfully hammy whodunnit set on a Mediterranean cruise.

A year after the death of Sheila, a movie producer with a penchant for games invites a select group on a one week cruise and plays a game that threatens to reveal secrets from each of the participants… when the games start getting fatal truths start coming out.

Fans of the film include directors Edagr Wright and Rian Johnson, Johnson has sited The Last of Sheila as one of the inspirations for the Knives Out films, and writer Sondheim appeared in Knives Out: Glass Onion.

The Phoenix Archive Project has been made possible thanks to support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and The Radcliffe Trust.
