A splendid, sumptuously produced new adaptation of the timeless Alexandre Dumas novel.
The target of a sinister plot, young sailor Edmond Dantès (Pierre Niney) is arrested on his wedding day for a crime he did not commit. After 14 years in an island prison, he enacts a daring escape. Now rich beyond his dreams, he returns to France as the ‘Count of Monte Cristo’, an identity through which he plans to exact vengeance on those who ruined him. Magnificently shot across glorious locations, superbly performed, it’s a thrilling and emotionally satisfying adventure.
