Screenwriting Skills: Script Reports

In this half day online course conducted over Zoom script editor Lucy V Hay will teach you how to create a script report, giving analysis and feedback for screenwriting projects, and the role of script readers in the industry.  Working with sample script reports attendees will explore:

  • What script readers do
  • What is in the script report
  • Why the industry uses script reports
  • What readers may be asked to look for
  • The differences between PASS, CONSIDER and RECOMMEND verdicts
  • How not to let personal preference interfere with critique of writing craft

Suitable for those looking to explore the role of script readers, people working in production who want to learn new skills, or screenwriters looking to develop their analytic eye.

TUTOR: Lucy V. Hay

Lucy V. Hay is a script editor, author and blogger who helps writers. Her site at bang2write.com has appeared on The Write Life’s ‘Top 100 Sites for Writers’ four years in a row. Lucy is the script editor and advisor on numerous UK features and shorts.

She has also been a script reader for over 15 years, providing coverage for indie production companies, investors, screen agencies, producers, directors and individual writers. Lucy’s debut crime novel, The Other Twin is being adapted by Agatha Raisin producers Free@LastTV.
