A heartwarming coming-of-age journey through Laos, directorial debut of south west based Joshua Trigg and shot entirely on 16mm by Cornish based cinematogrpaher James Chegwyn.
Satu – year of the rabbit is a story set in the beautiful countryside of Laos. When a bomb endangers the Pha Tang temple, ‘Satu’ an orphan child laborer decides to head north through the rich and feral landscape of Laos in search of his long lost mother with his new photojournalist friend ‘Bo’.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with *** who will share insights into crafting this debut feature on a micro-budget, the unique challenges of casting via Zoom during the pandemic and the complexities of shooting on film in a foreign country.
