“I dropped another level into the belly of the earth – astounded, amazed. I have been gifted with completely new experiences and learning.” GM
This exhibition celebrates the completion of the work of the award-winning arts in nature charity Rite to Freedom, including snapshots of beautiful projects created with professional filmmakers, artists, photographers, musicians, composers, poets and writers.
Presented in collaboration with Dartmoor National Park Authority, English Heritage, Exeter Phoenix and High Heathercombe Trust, Rite to Freedom’s touring Legacy Archive exhibition centres around the importance of creativity and the natural world to support mental health, wellbeing and building personal and collective resilience in challenging times.
“Creative Pathways has moved, celebrated, elevated and opened a stuck down part of me. The wise facilitators have held every part, I have been joyful and cried.” AC
Established in 2008, Rite to Freedom worked with some of the most marginalised and underrepresented in society, including many young people in the criminal justice system, prison and adults in long-term addiction recovery. Working creatively with personal stories and a conscious connection to the landscape of Dartmoor, lasting changes were made and deeply inspiring projects created. This work is now being exhibited online and in galleries and spaces across the south west.
Alongside celebrating the success and completion of Rite to Freedom’s charitable work, the exhibition marks the beginning of their new venture as a not-for-profit social enterprise: Creative Pathways. Nature. Arts. Wellbeing.
