London’s award-winning LGBTQ literary cabaret comes to Exeter for a night of queer storytelling. Hosted by author Paul Burston, with special guests Nicholas Pegg, VG Lee, Natalie McGrath & Joshua Jones.
Founded in 2007 in a bar in Soho, Polari enjoyed a long residency at London’s Southbank Centre before relocating to The British Library in 2022.
Known for its high energy, thought-provoking performances, Polari is a heady mix of live literature and cabaret, in which the performers happen to be writers. Each event showcases the best in emerging and established LGBTQ+ literary talent.
Described by The Huffington Post as “the most exciting literary moment in London”, the salon also tours regularly, supported by Arts Council England.
The salon also runs the Polari Book Prizes for LGBTQ+ writing. Tonight’s event is part of the Polari Prize National Showcase, funded by Arts Council England.
