Poetic Hunts: Valentine’s Special

Spork! Poetry presents a silly and subversive evening of spoken-word poetry, comedy and filth!

This Valentine’s Day, come along with Chris White and Edward Tripp on their big Poetic Hunt! They’re looking for love in all the wrong places. Like the Studio space at Exeter Phoenix.

Plus, a special guest spot from the raucous and brilliant Naomi Wood, an audience Love Poem competition, a “community poem” created by you. Yes, you. A panda in a headlock, some offensive Devon limericks and plenty of surprises. Bring a date. Sit in the splash zone. Make it a Valentine’s to remember!

Edward Tripp is an award-winning Irish stand-up poet, with a penchant for the surreal. He’s performed up and down the UK, from Just the Tonic in Edinburgh to the London Museum of Comedy. Whether screaming about spatulas or soliloquising about Uncle Connor “who isn’t in the IRA,” Ed’s a prop-heavy and provocative performer.

“A roaring fire of absurd wit”Corr Blimey

Chris White is a performer, poet and the soggiest bottom in all Exeter. The founder of Spork! Poetry, a multiple slam winner, and the first Riddler in Residence at Exeter Cathedral. He’s performed all over from Shambala to Tongue Fu, as well as on buses and boats. Writing silly words about queerness, identity and ducks.

“A knack for humour that can make you sigh in embarrassment, while also crying with laughter.” Bristol 24/7

Naomi Wood is a spoken word performer and theatre maker, celebrating rebellion and reveling in rage whilst maintaining a healthy preoccupation with the eroticism of bird feeders.

Her solo spoken word show ‘Gobbess’ – which has toured the UK and internationally, with shows at Edinburgh Fringe, Glastonbury Festival and in Oslo. It has been described as ‘Laugh-out-loud funny… pure magic… unmissable’. (Discover Brighton) and ‘An act of creative mastery’ (UCLAN)

Naomi has been published by Backlash Press and Ink, Sweat and Tears and was recently shortlisted for The Bournemouth Writing Prize.
