How do we write funny with our bodies? What is the key to creating laughter? Explore these questions in this physically engaging session. Time to extend your performance skills.
Navigate comedy through the perspective of the clown – the ultimate physical performer. Work with mime, gestures, double takes, failure, solo/partner work, rhythm, reactions and timing. Create a context and make short funny pieces using physical games and activities.
Suitable for actors, comedians, poets, dancers and those who want some space to extend their physical repertoire.
Dr Maggie Irving is a trained clown, comedian, speaker and teacher of drama and performance. Trained with Philippe Gaulier, John Wright, Peta Lily, Keith Johnstone, and John Morrish. Passionate about both verbal and physical comedy and the benefits laughter brings to people, she creates workshops and events where people can come learn and laugh together in a safe and supportive space.
