When it comes to a distinctive sound, exceptional duo Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin have shown they are in a league of their own. One of the most inventive and captivating rising acts on the acoustic roots scene, together, they won the Best Duo category at this years BBC Folk Awards.
Phillip is one of the UKs top slide guitarists and harmonica players; his innovative harmonica style combines country blues and folk styles with beat-boxing to create a jaw dropping and much coveted 21st century harmonica sound heavily steeped in tradition. He has studied the Delta blues bottleneck for many years and has developed a touch reminiscent of Ry Cooder, while his astounding harmonica technique is inspired by Sonny Terry.
Singer, fiddle and banjo player Hannah Martin writes songs weaving folklore and legend old and new with beautiful melodies. Her haunting compositions are delivered with a bold and beautiful singing style.
On hearing the first notes of the first track I knew that I was listening to a modern classic. One of the most exciting albums I’ve heard in years
