Over the past few months, the Makers have been exploring ideas of identity through the metaphor of a frame: What do we think about ourselves, that fits the ‘frame’? … And what doesn’t fit the frame? Alternatively, what are the things around the frame, that shape or support the person within the frame?

These questions and their subsequent ideas have sparked a wealth of conversation and reflection and led to the broad range of creative responses you see here. We have taken skills learned within and outside the Makers Group, sometimes combining them with new techniques that we’ve been curious to explore, to create playful and experimental responses to the theme and tell you something of the people that we are.

The Makers Group is a social, creative, weekly group based at organicARTS. We are open to anyone and all abilities, with a particular welcome to those with lived experience of mental ill health or social isolation. The group learns new skills and creative processes, offering a welcoming and friendly atmosphere to socialise and connect with our beautiful landscape. We work on a range of projects that respond to the land around us, develop and share our creative skills, support our wellbeing and reach out into the wider community while raising funds for the group.

organicARTS is based on West Town Farm, Ide, on the edge of Exeter.
