Based on a true story, BLACKBERRY SEASON is a tale of resilience and survival.

University graduate Servan return home to find his village destroyed and his community broken. Grieved by these atrocities he joins the Kurdish resistance where he finds comradeship and purpose. When Servan is seriously injured in clashes with the Turkish army he must break away from his comrades, or risk slowing them down. Against all odds and with the help of Kurdish villagers he survives but as the Turkish soldiers approach and begin to surround him, Servan much choose between hiding or finding his friends to fight for what he believes.

The Kurdistan geography witnessed an extreme period of war and violence during the 1990’s. This film is an adaptation of the novel Blackberry Season, an autobiographical transmission of Murat Turk’s experiences as a Kurdish guerrilla prior to becoming a captive.
