This exhibition showcases a project by photographer Theo Moye and young people attending sessions run by Action East Devon.

As a photographer who has struggled with their own mental health Theo Moye is keen to challenge some of the stereotypical images used to illustrate issues like anxiety and depression.

Having created an image that represents his own lived experience of anxiety he has developed this idea further working with young people attending Action East Devon’s Headlight groups in Ottery St Mary, Axminster and Seaton finding ways to create images that helps to tell individual stories.

Action East Devon enables children and young people in East Devon with mental health issues to work through them and move on to live happy, healthy lives. They run local peer support groups for young people aged 11-25, with optional one-to-one mentoring alongside. The groups offer a welcoming, safe, non-judgemental space, encouraging them to build healthy relationships with peers and establish a support network in their community and helping young people avoid a mental health crisis.

NB Some images have been recreated with models.
