I’m Muslamic don’t Panik

A hilarious and heart-felt story of one man’s journey to Iran to discover his cultural heritage. Featuring a captivating mixture of live music, spoken word, break-dancing and comedy.

Join Bobak on his journey of self-discovery as he meets a whole cast of weird and wonderful characters – from women defiantly running the first (and last) ever Tehran marathon, to stumbling into an underground breakdance battle.

Whilst the media frequently portray the Middle East as a frightening and dangerous place, Bobak shows us the positivity, joy, family and community that we rarely get to see. This is a beautiful story that will have you laughing-out-loud and leave you feeling full of hope.

After the show, enjoy a chat with your neighbours and the artists as we serve traditional Persian tea and date biscuits called Kolompeh. Everyone is welcome.

Post-show tea & treats contain gluten and nuts. Caffeine free and vegan options available.

“…so warm hearted that it is impossible not to enjoy.”
The Guardian ★★★★

“So full of heart, it’s brimming over”

“immerse yourself in Bobak’s world, it will enliven and educate you.”

Guest Dancers

Bboy Sheku:

Sam Phillips, better known in the breakin’ world as Bboy Sheku, is a talented and accomplished breakdancer and barber hailing from North Devon, United Kingdom. With an impressive record of titles and battle victories under his belt, Sheku has made a name for himself as a prominent figure in the UK breaking scene.

Master Splinter:

Like his namesake Master Splinter from the Ninja Turtles, Splinter had a background in martial arts before getting into breaking in 2005. He has now been breaking over 20 years, never taking more than a week off except for a car accident in 2013. This only stopped him for 3 months and the doctors said he was protected by his “unusually strong neck” from years of doing things on his head.

Splinter has travelled to compete and perform breaking in over 15 countries and has taught the art to hundreds of young people. He loves breaking because it’s done to some of the best music ever created, and the moves look and feel so good to do. Everyone wishes they could do it, the only thing stopping you is hard work and no amount of money can buy it. How can you not love it?

He describes his style as simple, funky and fun, and plans to keep doing it at least another 20 years
