Joining him on this historic double bill is none other than Kenyatta Hill, son of the iconic Joseph Hill leading the internationally acclaimed reggae band CULTURE with a night of reggae royalty.
Prepare for an evening of deep roots reggae consciousness and musical mastery as two generations of reggae greatness unite on stage.
Ijahman Levi, best known for timeless anthems like, “Heavy Load”, “I’m a Levi” and “Are we a Warrior” has captivated audiences for decades with his soul-stirring lyrics and powerful performances.
Growing up on the streets of Trenchtown Kingston, a contemporary and associate of Bob Marley and similarly signing to Chris Blackwell’s Island Records label, leading him to spend time in London, recording with Decca, Polydor and being at the forefront of the reggae & roots explosion. Hooking up with famed trombonist Rico Rodriguez and always surrounding himself with the finest of Jamaica’s studio musicians including Sly & Robbie, Lloyd Parks and Dwight Pinkney.
His early album “Haile 1 Hymn” became an instant classic spawning reggae anthems still highly relevant today. His body of work now encompasses over 40 albums and too many singles to count on both sides of the Atlantic.
Openly a huge fan of Otis Redding, his unique sound transcends conventional boundaries incorporating reggae, soul, jazz, and embracing the Rasta faith, becoming an Ambassador of Jah, his compositions stem from his dreams which he perceives and describes as messages from the Almighty, reaching the realms of the spiritual and mystical. A mesmerising performer, he transports audiences to levels of hypnotic consciousness defying them not to dance to his intense grooves and rhythms.
His return to the UK is a long awaited celebration for fans eager to witness his spiritual and uplifting presence once more.
Kenyatta Hill continues the legacy of his father Joseph Hill, bringing the unmistakable sound and message of CULTURE to the world. With hits like “Two Sevens Clash” & “International Herb”, CULTURE remains one of the most influential roots reggae bands of all time. Kenyatta’s heartfelt performances and dedication to his father’s mission have earned him a place amongst reggae’s finest torchbearers. His career began the day his father’s ended. Joseph Hill, lead singer and songwriter for legendary Jamaican combo CULTURE, collapsed and died during a European Tour in 2006. Kenyatta took the reins performing at the remaining shows with scorching electrifying stage shows defying his age and gaining huge acclaim from audiences, critics and promoters alike. Influenced by elements of dance hall, steeped in roots tradition and motivated to continue his father’s work, as well as finishing unrecorded works and creating his own music in the style of his heritage. His debut album “Pass the Torch” featured a masterful roster of legendary musicians including Sly Dundas and Robbie Shakespeare putting him at the forefront of the scene and he continues to hone his craft, touring extensively across the globe keeping the legacy of CULTURE alive for reggae lovers everywhere.
Don’t miss this rare opportunity to witness reggae history in the making. Secure your tickets early and be a part of a night filled with positive vibrations, timeless music and a celebration of reggae culture like no other!
