Lose yourself to dance, as Eden takes you on a journey into Paris’ pulsing underground house music scene.
Based on the experiences of French director Mia Hansen-Løve’s brother Sven, this film follows a teenager in the underground scene of early nineties Paris. In a culture dominated by rave parties, he forms a DJ collective and in plunged deep into an ephemeral underground world that comes alive at night.
On the one hand, a carefully observed study of the underground lifestyle, Eden is also a film about the perils of chasing your dreams.
‘Glamour is twinned with mundanity, beauty with boorishness and friendship with selfishness, while artistic endeavour is undercut by self-indulgence
Films that attempt to chronicle this lifestyle, never mind understand it, are few and far between. One that can do so with both perspicacity and affection is a welcome pleasure.’
THE GUARDIAN
‘This graceful, deeply affecting movie has a soulfulness and sweep that mark it as a step forward for Hansen Løve.’
