Artists Writing Group

Conceived by artist Laura Reeves to accompany her solo exhibition at Exeter Phoenix in 2016, the Artists Writing Group was set up to explore texts that had informed or complimented her artists practice.

Since then, a core group of members who approach creative writing in diverse ways have continued to meet twice monthly. The group has a relaxed and supportive atmosphere bringing together people who are interested in thinking critically about reading and responding creatively to texts that Laura and the group choose each week. 

A variety of themes and styles are explored and the texts vary from essays, short stories, autobiographical, experiments in form and structure – often determined by what the group have previously enjoyed or hated!

Currently the group are working towards the creation of a blog – a space to share the texts and profile each of the group members. 

Places in the group are free but limited, however space varies from week to week so booking is recommended. New members are always welcome.
