Alfie Kungu

Alfie Kungu’s work explores contrasting approaches to painting, whereby naive figurative characters may feature alongside more classical painting techniques – the animated and bold, often balanced with more subtle areas to create a cyclic harmony. The playful nature of his paintings is emphasized by a loose and exuberant style, an indulgent use of colour and contrasts in texture that complement one another to make them both enigmatic and alive.

Kungu is based in Bristol and was recently selected for New Contemporaries 2016.
