In response to the developing coronavirus situation in the UK, Exeter Phoenix is currently closed to the public. This is a temporary measure and we are taking this on a month-by-month basis. No events will be taking place during March, and the vast majority of events will be rescheduled for later in the year. We are following government advice and acting in the best interests of our visitors and staff.
Unprecedented closures like this with no confirmed government support will be hugely damaging for charities like Exeter Phoenix and many other sectors. If you are in a position to consider making a donation HERE, we would be extremely grateful.
Lindy Hop dance classes held every Monday night at 6pm in the centre of Exeter. Classes are suitable for beginners and improvers and are adapted to suit the level of the dancers. We are building a community of dancers from the most fun and playful dances in the world, Lindy Hop!
All are welcome to join us in our friendly and welcoming classes held at Exeter Phoenix in Exeter with opportunities to join us for regular dances both nationally and internationally. We rotate partners during dances and everyone dances together which means that you are welcome as an individual, a couple and even as a group. There are always experienced dancers at classes to help you to reach your full potential.
Here is some information about our teachers, their love of the Lindy Hop dance and what inspires them to dance and want to pass their passion onto others.

Ive always been attracted to music with a catchy beat. with tunes from the likes of Sinatra, Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong; it doesn’t get much catchier than swing jazz. Trying out swing dancing in the Minnesota, i was absolutely hooked! Everything seemed to just come together. Just dancing and sharing each beat and moment was an absolute joy. Eight years on since I started and i still think this dance is crazy fun and I believe many people will too!!!

As soon as I came across Lindy Hop, it became a source of exercise, confidence, expression, friends and social experiences. I love it because its an amazing way to connect with people, to have a skill to learn and work on and to be opened up to a world of all-night dancing in cities all over the world!
