Introduction To Dressmaking: Make A Tunic Dress

Discover the basics of dressmaking, creating a simple tunic dress with Lesley from Arrietty

For this course you will need to be able to use a sewing machine independently to join this course. If you are not confident using a machine please look at the suitability of our Sewing Basics course.

During this two-week course you will learn how to make a tunic dress (pattern provided).

Professional Tutor

Lesley Strath is a professional seamstress with many years’ experience making and designing bespoke wedding dresses. She has been working as a sewing tutor for Arrietty for the several years.

Pre-Course Information

Participants will need to bring:

• 3m of fabric (minimum 115cm width) and matching thread.
• A basic sewing kit and sewing machine – or you can rent one for the course for £5 per session.

Suitable fabrics: Medium weight dress fabric or lightweight furnishing fabric. We recommend using cotton, linen, lightweight denim, wool or corduroy for this dress.

When booking, please select whether you will be bringing your sewing machine or not.
